Welp… We’re officially on Waffle House watch.
What does that mean?
If you see this…
…it’s about to get real here in Orlando.
And if you’re unaware, the “Waffle House Threat Index” is real. Check it out: https://www.forbes.com/sites/maryroeloffs/2024/09/27/how-those-facing-hurricane-helene-used-the-waffle-house-index-to-measure-threat/
At the moment, Hurricane Milton is projected to be over us all day on Wednesday, so I expect Waffle Houses to be closed.
To that end, we’ll also be closed on Wednesday.
We’re open today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday). So swing by for a beverage or four.
If you’re having trouble finding water, swing by Rockpit with your containers, and we’ll fill them with filtered water on Monday and Tuesday. The same water we brew with at Rockpit.
Also, if you need sandbags, Orange County created this page to help you out: Sandbags Available to Orange County Residents Ahead of Tropical Storm Milton (ocfl.net)
United Against Poverty will activate their sandbag program on Monday, October 7th at 11 AM. Check out the Instagram post about it here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DAHSAcrRAUl/?igsh=MXU5cjE4c3hnM3BmNQ%3D%3D
United Against Poverty is located at the end of Illiana St, the same street Rockpit is on.
With any luck, we’ll all avoid significant damage and return to normal as quickly as possible.
If we do, here’s what’s…
Happening At Rockpit This Weekend (if we have power)
Friday, October 11th / Live Music with Steven Cardwell & The Neon Drifters / 7PM – 10PM
Hold on to your cowboy hats, y’all because you’re in for a boot-stompin’, guitar-strummin’ good time with Steven Cardwell & The Neon Drifters!
With Steven Cardwell’s raw vocals and the Neon Drifters’ electrifying instrumentation, you’ll be transported to a honky-tonk in Nashville, even if you’re stuck in the city. They’ll make you want to grab a cold beer, kick up your boots, and sing along to every word of Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey.” And their rendition of “You Should Probably Leave” will hit you right in the heartstrings.
But don’t think they’re just a one-trick pony. They’ll also take you on a ride through the wild west with Sturgill Simpson’s “You Can Have The Crown” and Marcus King’s “Too Much Whiskey.” And just when you think they’ve shown you all their tricks, they’ll surprise you with their soulful rendition of “Message in a Bottle” by Sting.
So, if you’re ready for a night of good ole’ fashioned southern hospitality, head on down to see Steven Cardwell & The Neon Drifters. They’ll have you two-steppin’, hollerin’, and hootin’ all night long!
