Swami & The Salamis Reunion Show Live at Rockpit
“They are back?!” “Am I hallucinating?” “What even is this?”
Hark! The backstory:
As legend has it… many eons ago Zeus threw an errant bolt of lighting and the sky cracked open above Central Florida.
A tumbling force of nature fell to earth in the form of ‘Swami’, a rock n’ roll jester clad in the finest thrift store silk.
With street tough swagger and a penchant for hi-jinks, he formed a bar band and them boys played shows from 2006-2008 in the Orlando area at various pubs, 5k runs and parties, and then they disappeared for 6 years into the ether of obscurity.
The stars aligned momentarily for Donnie and Rhea’s wedding in 2014 with a reunion show at John K’s house off of Gatlin Avenue.
‘Twas quite a lovely and raucous affair, but a mere moment in the arrow of time. Once again, the band dissolved like an Alka Seltzer wafer in purple Kool-aid on a hot summer night.
But no! This could not be the end!
The celestial powers governing the cosmos forged an alliance with fate and decreed a second reunion must happen yet again at the expense of all that is rational, sanctified and half-way decent.
Alas! They shall perform later this month at Rockpit Brewing for the 10 year anniversary of Donnie and Rhea! Ohh lawdd…
What to expect: Classic slop ‘n roll, reverb drenched surf, 80’s pop, spirited blues, 60’s vibes, frightful instrumentals, rando soundtrack cuts, curious ditties, and farcical interludes.
“It’s all in the reflexes…” -Jack Burton, from Big Trouble in Little China.
