Back in 2005, Co-founder Jeremy Pittman and his brother-in-law Mike Metroka brewed a beer together. It was Jeremy’s first time brewing a beer and it set him off on his home-brewing adventure.
This ultimately led him to open Orlando Homebrew Supplies in 2015 and RockPit Brewing in 2019.
Now Jeremy is returning the favor and Mike brewed his first beer that is available on our taps this week.
This is a true-to-style American IPA brewed with Citra and Galaxy hops.
When Cody started brewing here, he dreamt about brewing an Orange IPA. He obsessively asked Jeremy to make it. “Please, Jeremy, Please. I need this Orange IPA in my life,” he begged.
Jeremy being the softy he is, saw the pain in Cody’s face and the tears dripping from his cheek and said, “Ok, Cody. We’ll make that Orange IPA. And we’ll make it the best Orange IPA RockPit has ever made.” Being that we’ve never made one before, that would be easy.
Citrus Sinensis is a West Coast IPA brewed with all Citra and Bru-1 Hops. Then we aged it with the zest and juice of 60 Navel Oranges and 120 Mandarina Oranges.
The result is an IPA that screams Florida. I mean, it doesn’t actually scream at you, but there isn’t a more Florida IPA than this.
Perfect for the hot as balls days we have right now, you’re going to get a pleasant bitterness from the hops with slight pine and herbal notes and with a finish that is like sucking on a slice of orange. 🍊
Single Malt and Single Hop. Utilizing all Azacca hops and Maris Otter malt. Brings a nice, dry finish with big citrus and tropical fruit tones in both the flavor and aroma.

Fun fact: A “Cackler” is what they called a miner who let others do the heavy work.
